AND HE LAUGHED

It is Wednesday evening and we have put the two youngest kids to bed after a late night swim in the sea. Lara is hanging out with her gang of friends outside and Rod and I are sitting watching TV when I spot a medium sized, fat and many legged squat black spider creeping behind the cushion at Rods back.

Now, neither Rod nor I are afraid of spiders and as a result none of our kids are either but when Rod pulls back his cushion and using his index finger scoops that spider up into the air - you can probably see where this is going to go.

Yes, that fat black squat spider flew four feet across the air and landed on my head with a thump. A DEFINITE THUMP. I KNOW BECAUSE IT WAS VERY CLOSE TO MY EARS.

And before I knew what was happening I was down on my hands and knees in the middle of the room, shrieking, with my long hair flying around and around to the rhythm of the RTE News Theme Song like it was Iron Maidens latest comeback tour and I was clutching a front row Mosh Pit ticket in my hand.

WHAT IS IT WITH THINGS FALLING OUT OF THE SKY ON TOP OF ME THESE PAST FEW DAYS? THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO KNOW.
