NO TIME FOR A THOUSAND WORDS

My bedroom door opens at 7.30am and in walks a crying Sarah. She has cramps and diarrhoea. Great, join the gang. Audrey has been off school sick for two weeks with a double bout of the vomiting bug followed by a bad head and chest and eye cold and now it's Sarah's turn. At this stage four out of the six of us have been hit with it and two have had it twice. Only Me and Lara still standing.

I tell Sarah to climb in beside me and that she doesn't have to go to school. She can stay at home with me and Audrey today. She smiles but looks pale.

It's been an unusual week with so much happening that to read it all would bore you to death so instead here are a few photos I took today of things you might find around my house that explains what I've been up to.

This XXL box of Roses arrived in a large sparkly red bag and was given to me by the Mother of a friend of Rachel's. This 16 year old girl had a mega big row with her folks and after speaking to her very upset mother on the phone she ended up staying here in our house for three nights till things quietened down.

This photograph is the only one the man, who commissioned the painting I am working on, has of his father as a young man in his 40's. He gave me books on the Irish Guards and his fathers medal and asked me to paint his father as a 21 year old soldier. Last night at 10.30pm when everyone including The Husband was in bed I painted the very last thing needed to complete this portrait; the white shamrocks on his collar.

I hope he's happy with the result, well maybe hope is the wrong word as it doesn't quite convey the terror I felt when the last time I spoke to him he told me that as he would be getting the painting so near to Christmas he was going to throw an unveiling party to mark the occasion with all his family and relations in attendance. I can just picture them all now when he takes the covering off.

"THAT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE HIM, ARE YOU MAD....YOU MEAN YOU PAID THAT SHITEHAWK GOOD MONEY FOR THAT THREE FOOT BY FOUR FOOT PILE OF SHIT?"

I'm glad I've finished because now I can concentrate on my next commission. It is for a 40th Birthday present for a young lady who loves Audrey Hepburn. I'm painting two of her like I usually do with all my commissioned paintings of this sort because, well, because.....

These paintings are in the first stages of blocking and I can't wait to work on her some more. LIKE WHEN EVERYONE IS FINISHED BEING SICK IN THIS FECKIN HOUSE.

I LOVE the photo of the apple decoration, it's so beautiful. I might cut it out to hang on my tree next year!

And the Audrey Hepburn is gorgeous. She looks beautiful, buit with that look she always had of swallowing soemthing that was bringing tears to her eyes...
