RIDE OF MY LIFE Chapter 5

SOAP OPERA SUNDAY

I did speak to my other boyfriend. I told him that I didn't want to go out with him any more, which wasn't a lie. But I never mentioned Roger (Rod). He asked me if I would still go to his Graduation Ball and I told him I would and I did which didn't go down too well with Rod but when I explained the situation to him he was very understanding.

Anyway to cut a long story short, I invited Rod to my Ball and he invited me to his and after our final year exams at school he brought me to the north west of Ireland to Sligo to meet his Dad who was separated from his mother and who lived in a small, blink and you'll miss it, rural town with his sister, Rods aunt.

We took the bus from Dublin to Sligo and it left us close to his family home. We planned on staying the weekend and had brought enough clothes for the two of us in one rucksack.

"The house is down that road over there" he said pointing down a long lonely country road.

"And we're going this way" he added pointing to another identical road straight ahead.

"Why, what's up there?" I asked him

"You'll see." he smiled, swinging the rucksack over his shoulder.

We walked on up that quiet road past field after field for about 15 minutes until we came to a graveyard. He opened the gate and I walked through.

"Up there" he said pointing to the top of the sloping hill that was covered in graves.

"Who's buried here?" I asked him

"Just walk on up there and I'll show you" he said

So I did. And when I reached the top I saw it.

"OH MY GOD, THAT GRAVE STONE HAS OUR NAMES WRITTEN ON IT." I said in disbelief and I was blinking. A LOT.

"Yep." he said. "They're my grandparents. Well, I did tell you we were meant to be together."

Ha! I had something similar happen once. I'll have to go back and read the rest of your story.

How did you not just drop dead right then and there (from the shock)?! I'm afraid I might have.
